FAQs

  • Think of it as a casual walk through beautiful scenery. No experience necessary, be it the first time you have had a professional photograph taken or your hundredth, I am here to make it as easy as possible for you. Over the years I have picked up quite a few poses along the way, so if you are nervous, please know that I have your back!

  • Yes! There are often so many great candid shots that I love for everyone to be able to select for themselves which photographs they like best.

After our session, I upload all the unedited “winners” to a password protected online gallery. From there, you get to choose which images you would like to have edited.

  • Absolutely. If you have a special place in mind, great! If not, tell me a little bit about what you would like for a background, be it the woods, the ocean or anywhere in-between and we will find a place that is right for you.

  • Here are some tips that are tried and true:

    • When it comes to matching your partner or children, aim for cohesion rather than an exact-matching-shirts look. Choose a few colors that complement each other. If you are unsure, I can walk you through it and make personal recommendations.

    • Earth tones and jewel tones are universally flattering.

    • Avoid white and black paired together.

    • Be aware of everyone in the photograph: Although that bright red shirt might look great with your skin tone, the person standing next to you might not fare the same and it could reflect an unflattering tone.

And of course, these are just recommendations, and I will make it work no matter what you decide to wear!

  • I suggest choosing a style you know and love, regarding both hair and make-up. It doesn’t hurt to get a professional’s touch and there is a list of artists I love working with that I can refer to. Why not make the most of your close-up!

    A few things to note:

    • Hair wax. A little goes a long way for those pesky fly-aways on everyone

    • Don’t forget to brush your teeth

    • Keep in mind that I do retouch these images, so if you are worried about a blemish that has popped up the day of, find comfort in knowing that I can help! Adding more makeup over the trouble spot may make it more apparent. Same goes with bruises- if you have children with a cut or bruise on a knee, you don’t have to worry about rescheduling over a little mark.

  • I recommend bringing a special snack along. It can be a great motivator (bribe) to coax them into sitting still for a photograph. If you would like to bring a toy for some familiarity, that can also be pretty effective, but be advised that the stuffed animal or blanket may be in the remainder of the photographs.

Also find comfort in knowing that while packages do have time limitations, I don’t enforce this too strictly. Some people take more time to warm up to the camera and that’s something I like to be sensitive to.

  • If you have them, feel free to bring them! I find that it is much more unique and personal when families bring props that they have chosen. Bringing too many (more than three) can cut into the shooting time and be distracting from the most important part of the shoot – you!

  • I offer a variety of photography packages for family, maternity, engagement, lifestyle newborn, and formal headshots. Please use the button below to inquire and we can find the best fit for your needs.
